Cañon City Youth Soccer Pathway

The Cañon City Blitz Soccer program offers a step up from youth recreational soccer and prepares players for the competitive landscape of high school soccer. In Fremont County, the community soccer pathway starts at the recreational level with the youngest ages, setting a foundation of technical development. Our Blitz Soccer program is for players as early as age 8 or 9 who are ready to move into a more competitive environment, nurture their love of the game, and build a lasting team bond that will carry into their high school years and beyond.

Blitz Youth Player Development

The developmental growth of a youth soccer player comes through consistency and repetition. Our teams typically hold training sessions three times per week for 1 to 1.5 hours each session, depending on the age group. Compared to the recreational program which practices once or twice a week, our players receive on average 20-30 hours more training per season.

Our training blends technical skill proficiency with tactical concepts and physical fitness to develop well rounded players. Ball drills are mixed with fun games that nurture good decision-making under pressure. We encourage healthy competition during training which leads to better performance on game day. Players learn teamwork, discipline, and leadership. Perhaps most important, we believe in having fun!

Volunteer with Cañon City Blitz!

The Cañon City Blitz Soccer program runs on the efforts of volunteers to coach, manage, referee, and operate the organization. Each team typically has a Head Coach and Assistant Coach who run training sessions and manage games. Team Managers work alongside coaches to keep team rosters up-to-date, communicate with parents, and organize team events such as parties and parent meetings. Referees are needed at all levels, and are trained through CSA’s Referee Program. The Blitz Board is comprised of volunteers to manage the club’s operations.

If you are interested in volunteering for any of these positions, please contact the Blitz board or indicate your interest in the PlayMetrics registration process. We need you!

Blitz Soccer Registration Fees

Cañon City Blitz Soccer is proud to have some of the lowest registration fees in Colorado for competitive league soccer. We believe that money should not be an obstacle for youth players to experience the growth, challenge, and joy of competitive club soccer. The fees for each season are $150 per player. A $50 deposit is required at time of registration with the remainder due at the beginning of the season. We offer discounts for families with multiple players, and scholarships are available upon request. If the club does not have enough players to register a team for your child’s age group, the registration fee will be refunded. Go to the Frequently Asked Questions page for more information.

Colorado Soccer Association

Teams from Cañon City Blitz Soccer participate in youth leagues offered by the Colorado Soccer Association. The CSA soccer calendar goes from August 1st to July 31st, and consists of a Fall Season and a Spring Season. The Fall Season starts in August and ends in early November, and the Spring Season starts in March and goes through May. Each team plays eight games in a season: four home games and four away games. In addition to league play, some teams may choose to play in CSA sanctioned tournaments over the summer or winter months.
