Player Health and Safety
U.S. Soccer’s Recognize to Recover Program
U.S. Soccer has implemented a comprehensive program called Recognize to Recover to provide information and an overview of a variety of topics aimed at promoting safe play and reducing injuries in soccer players of all ages. The program was developed with the help of medical experts to provide coaches, players, parents, and referees with information, guidance, and additional educational materials to improve the prevention and management of injuries.
CSA Secondary Medical Insurance
As part of Colorado Soccer Association, all registered playing members with Cañon City Blitz are provided with secondary medical insurance coverage in the event of an injury suffered during a CSA sanctioned activity (practices, games, tournaments, camps/clinics). Please ensure that your player’s coach, team manager, or a Blitz club board member is aware of any incident requiring medical attention.
Secondary insurance coverage is provided through CSA. Payments will not be made for any expenses incurred after 52 weeks of the accident date. For more information, or if you need to submit a claim for an injury, please click the button to visit the CSA Youth Player Insurance page.
Concussion Awareness Resources
A concussion can be difficult to recognize on the field. Most occur without a loss of consciousness or an obvious sign that something is wrong with a player’s brain function. They can occur at any time throughout games or practice, as a blow to the head or body from contact with the ground, the ball or another player. Cañon City Blitz coaches and managers are required to take annual training courses on recognizing and responding to suspected concussions in our young athletes.
