Registration FAQ’s

Registration is OPEN.

Registration for the spring season is still open. We are currently looking  for U13 girls (born in 2005) U15 boys (born in 2003) HS boys (born in years 2004-1999) and 7th/8th grade girls and boys (born in 2003/2004) for a co-ed team.

What is different about competitive soccer? We play in a league governed by US Soccer and the Colorado Soccer Association. We compete with clubs from all over the state on teams formed by a birth year matrix and the players gender. We typically play 4 home and 4 away games a season. Teams typically stay together over the years and players become close to their teammates. Canon City Blitz encourages players and families to become leaders in sportsmanship and responsibility by following our code of conduct. This program is available to any local youth; we currently have teams from Under 11-Under 18. Teams are encouraged to carpool and families help each other with transportation for their players. Canon City Blitz is governed by a volunteer board of directors. Coaches and Managers are required to pass an extensive background check. Coaches are also required to complete annual concussion training and some US Soccer based coach training.       

 What is 9 v 9? US Soccer has implemented that a small sided field with smaller goal sizes be used for players competing in the Under 11 and Under 12 age groups. Players on these teams use a goal that is 6.5’x12.5′. The field is also smaller and teams are only allowed to have 9 players on the field at a time. US Soccer and Colorado Soccer feel strongly that a small sided soccer game is best for player development. Players will move up to a traditional size soccer field and goal once playing in an Under 13 age group.

What is the cost? Registration fees are $150 for the Fall and another $150 for the Spring. Players purchase their own uniform kits. A non-refundable $50 registration fee is due at the time of registration. If the club does not have enough players to register a team for your child the registration fee will be returned. The rest of the registration fee is due before the first game of the season. Registration covers the team’s costs for the season; this includes referee and state association fees as well as a stipend for coaches and managers. Teams are also eligible to request funds from the club for one tournament per year. Teams that want to participate in more than one tournament may have a conversation with parents about the additional costs of doing so.

Where do we send the money? Send the non-refundable registration fee of $50 to Canon City Youth Soccer Association (CCYSA) at P.O. Box 396, Cañon City, CO 81215. The additional per season registration fee of $100 or the additional full-year registration of $250 can also be mailed to the address above.

That seems like a lot of money to play soccer, doesn’t it? Not at all. The CCYSA has been proud to have some of the lowest registration fees in Colorado for competitive league soccer. Other clubs we play regularly often costs many times over what we pay in fees.

What if we can’t afford it? Blitz offers a few scholarships to families with financial difficulties. What about uniforms? Teams will be changing to Under Armour Uniforms for the Fall of 2016. These will be available through after July 1st. Players purchase their own uniform kits for around $75. The Blitz Club has worked hard to find a new uniform set that will be available for multiple years and is affordable. There will now be a $25 off discount for each sibling registered after player the first player signs up.
